Late yesterday (Thursday), we did a float trip down the Snake River. What a fun experience. The event was provided by Triangle X Ranch and involved a great steak dinner at their launch picnic area, followed by a 10 mile float down the Snake.
Our group included 11 'floaters' and our guide - Sean - we did remember his name :-) He was great and very knowledgeable about the landscape, the wildlife and history of the area.
Along our trip, we saw 3 bald eagles - the first of which I was able to grab in this semi-fuzzy shot.
We also saw a few elusive beavers. Dick got a few great shots - mine were less than great. I was very intrigued to see how the beavers 'fell' the trees they are after to build their dams. I knew the basics of how they chewed away at the tree base, but had never seen evidence of their work. Along our way, we saw many examples of their presence!
The peaceful float was beautiful and serene. The quiet waters, evening sky, majestic mountains and a variety of wildlife made this trip extra special. I have decided a float trip is one sure remedy to calm the spirit and reconnect with nature.
So - that's it for today; just a short post before we begin to pack up and head out for Yellowstone. Hope you all have a great weekend and I'll catch up in a few days.
