Rt. 64 South Heading from Grand Canyon |
So, we left the Grand Canyon about 8:00AM this morning, and descended about 3,000 ft in elevation toward Boulder City, Nevada. Our destination was the Canyon Trail RV Park in Boulder City....about a 4-hour drive. The landscape was mostly desert and mountains, following our descent from GC. And...the temperature were on the rise!!
Hacienda Casino, Nevada |
Entering Nevada, we crossed over the Colorado River....not too spectacular because the bridge was built with high side barriers to avoid traffic jams that block the views of the Hoover Dam. Our first view in NV was....the Hacienda Casino.
Desert Along NV Rt. 93 North |
The landscape and climate offered miles and miles of desert....not too interesting for photos, but for those of us who have never experienced the desert....pretty cool!!
Long-Horn Sheep in Boulder City, NV |
As we entered into the bounds of Boulder City, NV, we were treated to a grouping of long-horn sheep along the roadway. It was a scramble to catch a shot of them as Dick was tooling up the highway in unfamiliar territory. But - I was able to captured these few!!
Canyon Trail RV Park |
The local landscape was easily apparent once we were able to slow down and embrace the view. This is a shot inside the Canyon Trail RV Park. It is a lovely facility and full of local cactus! The temperature was a HOT 97 degrees, so I was super eager to get the AC on!! They say that 'hot' is not as noticeable in AZ and NV due to the lack of humidity. BUT.....HOT it was!!! Cutter and I hunkered down for a nap to beat the head of mid-day.
All Set Up at our Camp Site |
Dick was busy setting up our site and getting all of our conveniences connected. Following a few 'projects,' we decided to make plans at a local Bistro for dinner.
The Bistro Cafe was recommended by the owner of the RV Park and was a small place along Nevada Blvd. The local flavor and food was wonderful and it was a real treat for both of us. Following dinner, we enjoyed a walk with Cutter in the very comfortable and pleasant outside temps...now that the sun was down. Dick is now busy making plans for our day tomorrow. Stay tuned.
