Well, Cutter knew something was up this morning....he was relaxing in the sun, and we were making preparations to head out for the day. While there are some places leashed dogs are welcome, we knew it would be too tiring for him thru the day. So, we put the A/C on and left him in comfort for the day.
There are really no words that can adequately describe the breathtaking views from the rim. Learning about the various formations over millions of years was both incredibly interesting and totally awesome.
How great are His works!!!
While I was snapping pictures with my iPhone, Dick was taking the more professional approach. He is definitely the photographer in our family!!
I tried using the small video recorder, but I have a long way to go before I master the 'holding still' technique enough to try and share with others. So....I will spare you the choppy footage I was able to capture.
My photos cannot come close to the actual beauty and magnificence we are enjoying. Every turn offers more spectacular views....I will not even attempt to share all the endless photos I captured.
Pardon the aft view, but these mules are part of the many faithful who carry tourists down into the Canyon. These guys are enjoying some well-deserved grub for their day's efforts!
This is a wonderful Hopi pueblo that was constructed in the 'Village'.....sort of the hub of lodging, restaurants, shops, and spectacular views. The pueblo serves as a primary location for viewing and purchasing authentic Native American jewelry, art and crafts.
As part of a conservation and eco-friendly program in place throughout the park, there are 'water stations' where water bottles may be filled with cool, delicious Grand Canyon spring water. Hydration at 7,000 ft is a huge issue...so, we drank lots!
Couldn't resist including another gorgeous view....this one shadowed by the passing afternoon sun.
It was about this time that Dick realized he had forgotten his tripod....home in his office!!
So....he took advantage of the ice cream parlor to ease the pain :-)
Oh....BTW....have you noticed the scruffy face? Dick has that mountain beard thing going' on.
So.....I am way exhausted from a full day of walking and sightseeing. I am wondering what my legs will feel like in the AM. We have discussed trying one of the shorter, easier trails down into the Canyon....but, perhaps that will need to wait another day or so. I'm ready to take my Advil and turn on for the night.
