Jack and Jimmy at Interstate Repairs; Knoxville, TN |
Great job, Interstate Repair!! With the new transmission now installed, these guys are my heroes. Jack (left) is the boss; Jimmy is the worker-bee. There was LOTS of sweat exerted today getting that transmission installed....
Unfortunately, our dinner plans with Jimmy and family fell through last night - Jimmy was called out twice on tow jobs and did not get back to the shop til almost 9:00PM. By then, he was way too tired and I was in bed :-)
We finally pulled out of the yard today about 3:30PM.
I-40 West, Leaving Knoxville, TN |
So...back on the road, we are.....heading west on I-40. Much of the landscape along the highway looks like this......some hills, but the mountains (Appalachians) are way behind us now.
We crossed into the Central time zone somewhere around Crossville (east of Nashville)....jumping our clocks back 1 hour. This makes Dick happy because he can drive longer before it gets dark. He is calculating the long days ahead needed to make up for lost time. By the way....there is a noticeable difference with much smoother driving, thanks to that new transmission........good thing!!
Hot Spot BBQ Joint; Buffalo, TN |
By about 7:00PM (Central), we are thinking about finding a place to bed down for the night. It is still warm and humid, so I vote for the campground with full hook-ups. We decide on the Buffalo KOA Campground....KOA's are highly rated and are known for cleanliness and safety. This sounds good to me....where do we hook up???
Check out our dinner digs....this is the Hot Spot BBQ Joint; pretty fancy, huh! They had super-great pulled pork and brisket...and, we did not feel out of place looking hot and sweaty. Yee Haa!
Well....Dick tells me he wants to be pulling out of here and on the road by 6:00AM....so, I am headed for a hot shower and a cool night sleep. Looking forward to tomorrow's adventure!
